🌟 Join us at Birmingham Botanical Gardens for an unforgettable open-air screening as we present Hayao Miyazaki's modern classic, 'The Boy & the Heron'.

🎻🎢 Before the movie, get settled in for a captivating, one-hour performance of Studio Ghibli classic soundtracks, beautifully played by the Sekine Quartet on the Gardens' bandstand.

⏰ Doors open at 7.00pm, where you can join us on the main lawn for a selection of cocktails, mocktails, Botanical Gardens gin and delicious street food from Soho Slice Pizza, The Original Currywurst and Mahirs Experience.

⛲️ Please remember, this is an outdoor event, so don’t forget to bring along your chairs and blankets for a cosy movie-watching experience.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your booking confirmation ticket with you for admission purposes. We advise guests to bring a torch with them as areas of the Gardens can be a little dark.

We also advise sensible footwear to be worn and suitable clothing for the weather. Seating will not be provided so please bring picnic blankets and/or camping chairs. Tents are not allowed.

What time does it start?

Doors open at 7.00pm with the film starting at 9.00pm. Before the film, there will be a performance by the Sekine Quartet, playing music from Studio Ghibli movies. The performance starts at 7.45pm and will last for around one hour.

What time does it finish?

The event is expected to finish around 11.00pm.

Is the film in English?

Yes, the film is dubbed in English.

What happens if it rains?

The event will go ahead whatever the weather. TICKETS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE & NON-EXCHANGEABLE.

Will there be food and drink available to buy?

There will be food vendors courtesy of Digbeth Dining Club, and a bar serving beer, wine, cocktails, mocktails and Botanical Gardens gins. You will also be able to pick up hot drinks, snacks and cakes from the Gardens cafΓ©. You are welcome to bring your own picnics too.

Are pets allowed?

Only assistance animals are allowed access to the site.

Is it suitable for children?

Yes, admission is in line with the certification, but all children under the age of 16 should be accompanied by an adult.

Can I smoke at the event?

No. This site is strictly non-smoking and no vaping.
